    I Love DC!!  — 3 weeks ago

    Worth visiting!

I loved being in DC! I got to go twice while I was in high school, and both times were wonderful. My favorite part about the whole place is the museums though. The White House was great and all, but it was really something to me to see Fonzi’s jacket and Archie Bunker’s chair. Yeah, I’m easily amused..

I lived here for a semester when I went to college. DC is absolutely amazing! I want to go back there so bad. Make sure you see all the free stuff, museums, buildings, etc. If you get a chance, Gallaudet University is the best college ever :)~

LOVED it here! I went once in 8th grade and visited the monuments and other tourist attractions. Then I went back this past May with a college club and visited for a weekend. We had a great time just taking the metro and going to different restaurants and stores, and volunteering for a festival, and just looking around. I would definitely recommend going to see it! I’m going to go back again as soon as I can!

I always lived so close to Washington, DC, but rarely got the chance to do the “touristy things” that define a trip to the city. It’s been years since I toured the monuments, sat by the reflecting pool, and bought flowers from a cart at the Mall, and I haven’t gotten the chance to see my old home since. Still, of what I can remember, Washington is a wonderful city, much greener than New York or Chicago, but with just as much life and vitality.

Ride the Metro. It’s clean and fun, and easy to learn. You don’t have to worry about parking around DC this way.

Get a map before you go, there’s a ton do and see. Give yourself some time to see each site.

    Worth visiting!

I visited Washington, DC for the second time seven years ago with a group of student winners of an American history contest. The two history teachers who lead the group were extremely knowledgeable about the city and its many institutions, making the trip an extremely interesting and informative one. I especially enjoyed the many tours of buildings like the Capital and the FBI headquarters, as well as the multitude of museums. However, one of the stories they told that stands out most vividly in my mind happened on an earlier Know America trip; the “Highlander Story,” they called it. Apparently, staying in a hotel overlooking the city, the teachers and their students witnessed in the light of the street lamp below a trench-coat clad man produce a sword from his clothing and practice his swordsmanship on the deserted street for several minutes before sheathing the weapon and disappearing. I’m not sure if this is a common happening on the streets of the capital, but it certainly was an odd story.

It was wonderful. I got to go to Chinatown and it was beautiful.
