Toll?
So, we were on that little part in New Hampshire between Massachusetts and Maine and they charged us a $1.50 toll to go between the two states. We found it funny. Over all, traffic moved and the rest stop was very nice! I would like to visit the rest of the state someday!

Shall we spend the night at Wal-Mart?
We went into a Wal-Mart that was right off the highway to get my kids some clothes. (Like many trips, it was spontaneous and one had only the clothes on his back and no shoes…) The greeter said… and I quote… “Welcome to Waaahl Mott, wood you like a cot?” After a few seconds, I accepted the cart (after all I had a kid with no shoes to push around) and the children goaded him into saying welcome to walmart a half dozen more times as well as “cart”,”you can’t get there from here”, “Gloucester”, and “Bar Harbor” until the next customer came… then we gave the poor guy a break.

Amazing
Thanks to my family, i’ve been pretty much everywhere in New Hampshire. One of my favorite places is in the White Mountains and its a tiny little town called Franconia. In the winters we go skiing because its next to a huge skiing place called Cannon Mountain and in the summers we go on trails. I recommend the Lonesome Lake Trail. Everything there is so peaceful and the air smells so fresh and everyone is so happy. Definitely go to Franconia.

A review of this place
I used to live here. It was great. Hiking through the White Mountains was wonderful! If you’re ever in the (former) Old Man of the Mountain area, you should head just 15 mins north of there to Littleton. There you’ll find Chutter’s. It was in the world records for the longest candy counter. I haven’t seen much of Manchester besides it’s airport and mall. Keene is a great place, too. FYI Jumanji was filmed there! Right in downtown you get a feeling of antiquity, yet just a few miles away and your back to modern srip malls. If you have the time just wander a bit through New Hampshire. I’m sure there are great little towns I haven’t even been to.

Free State Project
I’ve done a lot of things in New Hampshire, hiking, climbing, going to weddings, crashing vehicles, but by far the most unique was my journey up to New Hampshire to see the Free Staters for New Years 2007. We all met up in this mostly finished house. It was really weird, because I didn’t know anyone. Everyone was really friendly, but I ended up leaving early. I guess I never got the libertarian mentality down. Too much concern for the environment.
