time spent in the clouds  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

my family and i spent a lot of time overseas (thanks to the U.S. Army) and were lucky enough to see the phillipines before it became over-commericialized and “touristy”.......camp john hay was originally a military base where families could go for “retreats”...i was fairly young when we visited, but the experience was profound enough to imprint my young mind: ...one morning we woke up to clouds outside our front door…at least this is what my unfledged imagination created—my adult mind now looks back at it and knows that it was fog—but i like the innocence of “walking in the clouds”...i can still recall the wetness of the air on my skin…the smell of earth surrounding me…the mountains in the distance peaking through the breaks in the “clouds”............i’ve always thought it would be nice to visit again, but afraid that my adult eye would disappoint and therefore corrupt my memory…
