Gitmo Prison
I was down in Gitmo running the prisons back in 1996. I think Cuba is a beautiful place but since Americans are welcome there, I guess you won’t find out unless you’re in the military or have a special purpose to be there. The water is so clear and the land is just breath taking in my opinion. Watch out for those iguanas, they will chase you. I got stuck on the bottom of this cliff because a few of them were waiting at the top for me. I had to finally go up there because the tide was coming in and would have washed me away. I ran like you wouldn’t believe and trust me, they were close behind. I never realized how fast they were! Anyway, it’s a cool place to see if you get the chance. Happy traveling!

Ummm, not much good to say
Spent a few months in Gitmo doing firefighting training.
We were only allowed off our ship a couple days a week, and we spent that time drinking heavily (with a little bit of softball thrown in).
There’s apparently heavy amounts of bacteria in the water. If you go to one of the tiny, rocky beaches; then you need to hose every square inch of yourself off as soon as you leave the water. A couple guys on my ship ended up with nasty rashes.
Everything that’s not a military building is a 3rd-world caliber shanty, and it’s hot as hell.
Well, at least the rum was cheap.

I spent a couple of years there because my father was stationed there. One of the most interesting places I ever lived.
