Stonehenge, Longleat House, Cerne Abbas, the chalk horse, Pilton, Avebury, Avalon, the Cotswolds and this area is also famed for its King Arthur and Holy Grail legends. If you come in late June you could go to the world’s best music festival in Glastonbury. over 6 years agoUntitled by DougieLawsonIt was a cold day between Christmas and New Year. The previous time I’d been to Stonehenge was about thirty years before (as a child). It doesn’t change much – the visitor “experience” had been modernised. You were also no longer allowed to get up close and personal with the stones. But, if you’re ever on the Hampshire/Wiltshire border it’s well worth a visit. The amazing thing with these popular tourist attractions is that they can be less than thirty miles away, but you forget them. Take a look around your local area – find and support your local attractions. over 7 years agoI live here by PernilleAt the moment, coz I used to live in Hampshire and before that in Belgium… Who knows where I’ll end up later?? over 7 years agoI grew up in Wiltshire by James GloverNice place, especially in the North when you have easy access into Gloustershire and thus to the Cotswolds, and yet can still get to Sailsbury etc. Although Wiltshire does have a fair share of villages it would be inacurate to think of it as a highly rural place, as many of said villages are full of commuters. over 7 years agoSee all 8 entries |
