New York City
Worth visiting!
The first time I was in Uppsala was in the fall of 2001, to stay for a month with my girlfriend, who had returned home after a year as an au pair in Brooklyn. I had a wonderful time touring and photographing the landmarks of the city (I’ll have to dig up those pictures), living in Flogsta, visiting the research labs where she was studying, and generally enjoying being away from the weirdness going on back home in New York. My last visit coincided with the explosion of Shuttle Columbia, and the invasion of Iraq… strange and awful memories, but a great and beautiful city, where I spent time with a wonderful girl and her friends.

I’m thinking of exchanging to Uppsala for two months next year, and was wondering how the student life is there =)

In Flogsta, students scream at 10 PM everyday for about 5 minutes. I repeat, everyday.

cosy, i find it rather dreary at times though, but the university students sure love it.

the coolest town I saw. A sea of bikes, a college-town atmosphere, and interesting architecture. This would be a great place to spend some time.

I loved Uppsala every time I’ve been there. I have a friend who is from there, so I visit her every so often. Beautiful city. Wonderful cafés..

I live in this old univercity town with its throughgoing hill (“rullstensås”) and its ugly, but also nice, river (“Fyrisån”). You know this is an old heathen place. :o) Old town parts and new and lots of places to eat or just drink coffee (or tea) in. Not a big town, a perfect place for your summer holiday (and it is close to Stockholm too, travel there by bus is cheap!).
