Maramureş

We traveled through the whole Iza valley on foot and it was a very beautiful place to visit. But now the whole place is a huge construction site, since most young people work in Italy, Spain and other countries and come back with lots of money that they spend on large, ugly (kitsch) villas. I recommend avoiding the main roads if you want to still catch what was once a beautiful place.
Also to visit in Maramures is the Happy Cemetery (“Cimitirul Vesel”) in Săpânţa.
