Frisians, visit the OSTFRIESEN GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY OF AMERICA

As you may know, the first republic of free citizens in Northern Europe was on Frisian territory in the Theelacht area in current Germany over 1100 years ago. Our ancestor’s long history of independence continued as they became the first republic in Europe to endorse the American colony’s struggle for independence. After that, the german-dutch Frisian immigrants joined with American abolitionists to confront the immorality of slavery

neat part of the netherlands.

Almost all of my family came from Friesland, but unfortunately I don’t know much about the culture or the language. I’d love to go explore, meet some cousins, and learn a little more about my heritage.
