Groningen

I live here WOOHOO

I summered in Groningen in 2006 and loved it. It’s a very comfortable place, not too large but very concentrated in its Centrum and full of energy. There are always students about, as late as 2 or 3am, and it’s quite safe to walk about at those hours—not always true of mid-size Dutch cities (cf Leeuwarden or Amersfoort, dead quiet by 10pm!). Local restaurants, both brauncafes and ethnic places, abound. Taco was a particular favorite, and the portions at Napoli are enormous. Best pub: the Walrus, where every night there are different game clubs meeting (chess, go, strategy board games, cards). Lovely parks, too. And well-connected by rail with the rest of the country, of course!

well.. i went on a study abroad program.. but it was mostly traveling, having fun and meeting cool people from all over the world.. if you are a student going there.. you’ll have fun fo’ sho’

I was born in Groningen and lived there for a couple of years.
I have been back to visit a few times since. It’s a wonderful city.
