Friuli Venezia Giulia

In Aquileia, walked down a dirt road through a farm to reach a tiny restaurant where I had a fantastic dinner.

Bicycled through Palmanova to Udine. Didn’t much enjoy Udine…I was sick.

Cycled eastward to the lovely Cividale. Continued east, up the Natisone river, gorgeous every moment. Nice descent into Kobarid. This might have been the best day of my trip.

Little rural province in Northern Italy. Rarely visited by tourists. Great wine and landscapes around the Magredi. Smaller towns are the most interesting with atmospheric churches and talkative people in lonely coffee shops. Trieste is a kind of cultural frontier town – and one of Italy’s most underrated cities.

I live in Friuli. And I really can say I’m happy of it.
If you search for sea, try Lignano (near Udine) or Sistiana (near Trieste). About Art, there’s so much to see. The “Absburgic Garden”, Gorizia, with its wonderful Castle. Trieste, the Absburgic city, layin’ between mountains and sea, with one of the most important Theatres in Italy, the only square opened to the sea and so many other things. San Daniele, near Udine, small beautiful town where you can eat our unique “prosciutto crudo”. Cividale, between Udine and Gorizia, that is… pretty unique, can’t really describe. And many others places…
