Incredibly varied place to visit. Beautiful scenery. I found the area very peaceful and calming.

Ok, here I have to admit that I have a very heavy conflict of interest, since I work as a copywriter for them… but this region is really pretty amazing.
There are the Alps, there’s the countryside, hills, vineyards, canyons, art cities, mediaeval villages, high-end gastronomy and gorgeous cheeses, outstanding wines… My faves: Lyon, Beaujolais, Drôme provençal, Dombes, Ardèche and Vercors.
And best of all: it’s still pretty a bargain (or at least it was until last year), especially when compared to Provence-Côte d’Azur.

But super expensive, especially Chamonix. would not stop me going back though!
