Have rented a Gite in Esperaza from 3rd to 10th June. Excellent base to explore the area, fly to Perpignan or Carcassonne.

Languedoc Rousillon is a large region spanning the lower half of the French Mediterranean coast from the Spanish border and Perpignan in the Pyrénées Orientales department, up and around to Nîmes in the Gard department. The coast is primarily flat whilst inland the hills are rolling (an exception being the Pyrénées which are quite large and with a much more interesting coast).

The places close to my heart (I lived extensively in these areas) are the mountains around Prades and down to the coast (near Perpignan), Bedarieux and the Lac de Salagou down to St Pons (near Montpellier) and the Uzège in (near Nîmes).
