Basse Normandie

I only had two days here, so I just visited Mont St Michel and some of the beaches and graveyards, but there were so many other places I wanted to see. This is a great region to drive around – the countryside is beautiful and it’s definitely easier to see everything you want to see if you have your own transport.

I’ll get my driving license next summer, and after getting I’ll there go on my own.

As soon as I get my driving licence, I’ll drive on my own till reaching that place! I’ll move freely with the car to visit all the towns and places I wanna visit. So looking forward to it.

Absolutely beautiful area in France. Mont Saint Michel was spectacular and touring the major battlegrounds of D-Day was sobering to say the least. The people were great – very friendly. Highly recommended.

Calvados…need I say something more?

I wanna visit as much as I can of it: Caen, St. Marie du Mont, St. Mere Eglise, Carentan… It’d be so good if I could rent a car and move this way, which means it’d be much better if I went there when I could drive.

I’ll go there with my love!! :D We’ve already talked and planned some parts of the trip, and we’re both excited to go!! :D It’ll be such a gorgeous, great and wonderful trip!! :D I’ll be able to visit the beaches and towns I’ve always seen and heard about when reading about WWII, and share that unique and amazing moment with her!! :D Moreover, to spend some days the two of us on our own… must be totally awesome!!! :D My love was there when she was a child, and she told me Normandy’s such a beautiful and gorgeous place :D I’m so looking forward to travel there with her and share those amazing, wonderful and unique moments with her! :)

Visited the Juno Beach Centre which is a memorial to the Canadians who fought in WWII and especially to those who landed on the beach on D Day 1944. We also went to the nearby Canadian Military Cemetary at Benys Sur Mer. So many graves and so many young people buried there. An emotional experience.

To walk on the beaches of Normandy was very awesome and very sombering.

If you have any interest in history, you’ve got to visit Normandy, and a city called Caen. It was surreal standing on Omaha Beach.
