Inspiration is rife.  — 4 months ago

    Worth visiting!

I went back to Tel Aviv last week, for 4 short days with my boyfriend who lives smack bang in the centre of the city. I do so love this city, and will keep coming back. It wouldn’t matter where A lived, but it helps that the city is wonderful.

I spent quite a lot of time documenting the street art, as usual, as well as hanging out at the graffiti shop. The street art is just fantastic there, and so vibrant.

I went back to Israel in December, having been in the Summer. The friend I was staying with in August turned out to be more than a friend, so I had extra incentive, and that’s why I’m going back yet again in April for just 4 days.

December was slightly strange, as A was working/studying the whole time so we only had the evenings together. I learnt to wander the city by myself and made some new friends though. I can’t wait for April!

A review of this place: Tel-Aviv is okay.  — 1 year ago

Tel-Aiv is best for night life. It is NOT the REAL Israel in MY EYES. Israel is more historic. YES Tel-Aviv is a MUST-SEE. YES Tel-Aiv is a STOP ON THE NIGHT LIFE CIRCUT. But TO ME it’s not much more. I had fun PICKING FLOWERS IN RABIN SQUARE, and I had fun at WHISKY A GO-GO. YES, I FELT SPECIAL at INDEPENDENCE HALL. But I didn’t do much else there.

    FOUR DAYS TO GO!
    I’m so excited!

The (loose) itinery is as follows:

    Tel Aviv – Four nights
    Jerusalem – Four nights
    Tel Aviv – One night
Haifa – Casearia – Acco – Four nights
    Tel Aviv – One night
    Eilat – Four nights
    Tel Aviv – One night

As you can see, I’ll be coming back to TA between little escapedes to check in with my friend and to pick up more travellers cheques/repack my backpack. I’m so excited!

It’s so beautiful. I went to Tel-Aviv, Israel the same time i went to Palestine. It’s amazing. I remember walking on the beach and picking up the sand in my hand, letting it flow out of my fingers, it was soft, warm and clean. I really hope you guys enjoy this place. It’s beautiful. I will go back! Oh and the seafood is the bomb!

I now have just under 3 months to plan this trip before the plane takes off.

Current plans look like this: Land in Tel-Aviv and spend 5days to a week there with Amir. Possible day trips to other places, maybe the Dead Sea. From TA, go to Jerusalem to stay with John for 3-4 days, hopefully including some hiking trips further north.

From there, I would like to go north, across then down again via Haifa and all the way down to Eilat for one or two days before going back up to Tel Aviv. Any advice fellow travellers and citizens of Israel would have on how to do this would be much appreciated :D

    5th-25th August 2007.
    I will be in Israel.
    Wow.

Wandering, photographing, living, browsing, exploring, hiking, swimming, seeing….

I complain about tourists in my own city, about how they find the most banal things exciting (OMG LOOK! A LONDON BUS!)...I wonder if I’ll be just as irritating if I seem awed by a different country to my own.

How this place changed my life  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

I was 19 and for two eventful weeks squatting a house opposite Hilton at the beachfront. Isreal is the most vibrant country and two weeks in Tel Aviv might be like half a year in any other capital, at least it was for me.

Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

Tel Aviv is the most vibrant, most alive, most active city you’re likely to find this side of the Mediterranean (if not all of Europe and the Middle East.) The food is delicious, the people are wonderful, the beaches are gorgeous…

    Tel Aviv never stops.
