Has anyone been during Carnival???? I wanted to know if you felt safe? We would be a group of girls. Do a lot of tourists go? Do prices of things go way up? Are accomodations significantly more? Is it easily to get from Trinidad to Tobago? Have you been to other Carnival celebrations? How does Trinidad compare?

My friend Karen lives here and she used to write me letters about how wonderful Carnival is, as well as the entire country! I want to sit on a beach and “lime”...is that the right use of the word?!?

Many of my relatives, my mom’s cousins I believe, live in Trinidad. My aunt visited there several years ago. I love the food, and I desperately want to go for Carnival.

I lived in Sangre Grande when I was little. Without a doubt the best food in the world is made in Trinidad. Curry and roti… doubles…pholourie… YUM!!!!!!!!

Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 11 months ago

    Worth visiting!

A melting pot of cultures. Unbelievable local tasty dishes. I recommend eating in the smaller less touristy places, if you dare. They are quite safe. Bake and Shark on Maracas Beach is a definite. “Doubles” from a place called Morvant Junction absolutely delish.

    Not worth it!

I just spent a few nights in Trinidad on a layover. I am completely shocked by how developed the island is. There is absolutely amazing buildings and the majority of the roads are in great condition.

It isn’t terribly expensive, and there is some beautiful scenery.

If I have one complaint it is that the public transportation is IMPOSSIBLE to understand if you are only going to be there for a few days.
