Romania

I want to visit my friend.

I think the people of Romania are really remarkable. The openness and acceptance of ideas and vision from other cultures is something I’ve found to be as refreshing as it is unique in this rapidly balkanizing world.

I was borned in Romania so….

basically we’ll see a lot’s of extremes: very expensive cars running through very poor cities,beautiful women, very ugly oldwomen, lots of spiritual connections:churches, monasteries lots of crosses.Anyhow just ask me if you need any advice
Good food, wine and beer.
Don’t go with your car, the streets are very damaged, don’t go with the train (unless it’s an inter-city train), don’t go with the taxi(unless it’s booked before)

Oh my god I think I hate my country!

PS: PLEASE FORGET ABOUT DRACULA AND THE CASTLES! If you want something real ocult(in positive way) go and visit the monastaires from Moldova and Bucovina, you’ll feel more connected to God(or who’s running things up there) then ever.

Apparently my ancestors from maaaany years ago were from Romania, and although I’m English, I’ve never really felt I seem it (as much as I’d like to….) so it’d be nice to visit Romania and see if I feel that I fit in more there! Plus the scenery is lovely :)

The family put off the trip for one year so that more people will have the opportunity to go. It seems that more of the cousins and aunts and uncles will be able to go in 2008 rather than 2007. For me, it’s 6 of one, half dozen of another. Neither time is particularly well suited for me, but I will find the funding whenever it takes place. I really want Jason to be able to come, so it’s important to me to save up money.
My grandma said that she will give each grandkid the $1000 they were going to receive upon her death early- she’ll give it to us in order to use it to buy the plane ticket if necessary.
Uncle Johnnie, who is putting the trip together, also spoke of an optional extension to the Greek Islands following the Romania visit. I definitely want to do that leg of the trip, but we’ll have to see what money will allow. I know about all of it enough in advance to save for it, and I’ll have enough for Jason and I to go, it just depends on the wedding and how much we spend on that.

I went here and stayed with a group called the Smiles Foundation. We spent 10 days helping out at the children’s hospital. I won’t lie and say that I didn’t want to take them all back with me. If you get a chance, go into the countryside a bit. The people are beautiful and it has a slight storybook feel to it.

...I fell in love with the idea of Dracula, and wild Romanian women. I need to see the Carpathians, and feel the earth.

It’s so obscure compared to other places in Europe that most people want to go to. It looks very pretty there with the castles, etc.

dude, one word:castles… oh yah and I have a slight obssesion with vampires so yah.

I first went in the dead of winter. It snowed a full foot overnight in the middle of the trip! I was able to lead a youth group back the following summer- I enjoyed both experiences, especially climbing to the top of a small mountain behind a gypsy village to find an ancient monastery.
