Spanish Flowers

Finding a place to hang out 24 hours a day can be a little tricky in Houston, although it is getting less so. But Spanish Flowers is not really a late-night kind of place for me. It is a not-very-hot-day kind of place because they have a great patio and it is a really great place to hang with friends and drink some ‘ritas. Lots of ‘ritas if the day is a typical Houston scorcher, which kind of defeats sitting on the patio anyway, because heatstroke and leisurely dining are sort of mutually exclusive.

One of my favorite things about this place is the tortilla machine. It’s near the cash register, constantly churning out fresh ones, and there’s a woman who gathers them all in a basket and then goes from table to table handing them out.

They’re still warm when she lays them on your table. Just thinking about them makes me hungry.

They also give you a bowl of beans while you’re waiting for your food, along with the standard chips and salsa, and pineapple with your check.

Well I’ve been to manyMexican restaurants. Growing up in a Mexican family, you kind of have to..lol. Well anyway, this place is not bad. I used to love it here as a kid but I guess now since I’ve tried so many places, it’s average to me. I would still go back though, I have to actually. We have a get together here whenever my family comes in from out of state. I like their tortillas and you can watch them being made from the machine and they give you fruit at the end of your meal :P The rest of the food is fine too.
