Guatemala

i decided to go to the Guate for a month to study spanish. Antigua was amazing~ i lived with a family, went to school and mingled with the amazing locals… i hope everyone goes

I can’t wait to go to Guatemala to see Tikal! Antigua! Markets! Lago de Atitlan! Quetzaltenango! I’m going in June! Woohoo!!

I loved my two months in Guatemala and I would go back in a heartbeat.

i went on a medical relief trip and it is amazing.

I spent a month living in Quetzaltenango this summer, and loved every moment. It was booootiful! Greenness and mountains and parrots hopping around. Also the people are so gracious. Their pace of life is much more relaxing, and on Friday nights they go out salsa dancing instead of drinking. Nobody takes anything for granted down there. They’re thankful..not materialistic. I felt totally at home and want to go back this summer!

MUST GO BACK!! I went there when I was 11 and it was the most amazing experience. I will never forget the volcanoes, the coffee farms, the markets, Guatemala City of the incredible old buildings..

It’s those stunning Mayan cottons. Jaspeados and cochineal – I’d like to find a traditional dyer who would teach me some of the plants and techniques.

Guatemal is an amazing place. Highly recommended it!

You have to visit Livingston, near Puerto Barrios! The ride to the island in itself is an experience :) The entire city of Livingston has a Caribbean feel to it. Many Garifunas from Belize and Honduras now reside here and make this place an experience. Be ready to dance to punta and eat foods with coconut and banana. :)

I went to Belize and took a day trip out to Xunantunich, the Mayan ruins. I could SEE Guatemala but never actually set foot in it. Next time! :)
