Paris France  — 2 days ago

    Worth visiting!

In 1989 I spent 3 days in Paris with my mum & my aunty. We camped in a tent & used the metro trains to get around, because the traffic there is a nightmare to drive in. If you visit Paris, I suggest that you park up your car somewhere safe & do the same. The public transport system is wonderful over there. Be warned though, it helps heaps if you can speak French, because most people either won’t or can’t speak English. You also need to ask crystal clear questions, because otherwise they’ll send you off on a wild-goose chase. Seeing the amazing sites there is worth the hassels though & I want to go back.

What I want to do at this place  — 2 weeks ago

What I’d really love to do is to either hire a caravan or a motorcycle or scooter and follow the route of the Tour De France. The countryside is so beautiful, and I’d much rather wander along back roads than spend all my time in tourist-centric areas.

Of course, I’d first have to learn French…

If you are in Cathar country (the Aude region), near Rennes Le Chateau, you must stay with Jo and Roy Hayes,an English couple, at their B & B in Esperaza. It is called La Maison de la Riviere (the house on the river) and it is gorgeous and they are fabulous!! Opt for them to cook your dinner every night – it is better and less expensive than most nice restaurants. www.HotelAude.com Phone: (0)468 74 37 79 The photo is the three of us in the kitchen where we ate a huge breakfast every day and had afternoon tea. Dinner was served in the dining room. We stayed there in Nov. 2007

and it was fantastic!! My friend and I rented an apartment and we lived the Parisian life. I settled in and felt right at home from the first moment I stepped out of the taxi and onto Rue de l’Avre. I LOVED Paris. I’m so in love with it. If you’re thinking of going, go! GO NOW!! You won’t ever regret it :)

Dont rent a car. Visit historical places, not just touristy sights. I did my senior project on planning a historical tour through Paris and Bayeux France. Before visiting, I would defintely reccomend that you borrow or buy the latest addition of the Rick Steves France books! He had all the on the spot details about France and wonderful reccomendations that you would have never guesses! Do not go to France and assume everyone speaks English, if you dont know basic French you may end up looking very stupid. I personally didnt in my actual trip get to go to the D-Day beaches in Bayeux, Normandy on the coast, but I would definitely without a doubt reccomend them if you are at interested in history!
