i went to barcelona last year. couple of good things and a couple of bad things: well, some of the bad things were girls not wearing their bikini tops at the beach, the stench of the sewage, and the graffiti. other than that, it was really enjoyable! i bought some cool things at the markets and visited some churches and La Sagrada Famillia was a brilliant place to see. i visited all the little villages and the old fashioned gothica buildings. it was very enjoyable.

Starting in June, I’m doing a study abroad program in Salamanca, Spain. I’m super-excited. Pictures and stories to follow.

I traveled to Spain a few year ago with my family. it was absolutely phenomenal. We went to Seville, Cordoba, and Granada as our main staying points, and also to Rhonda (much smaller town). Rhonda was my FAVORITE. the people were lovely and personal. It was small and beautiful, but completely “Spain.” There is a famous bridge there… the name escapes me at the moment… and a few weeks after we got back I saw scenes of that same bridge in a country music video! It was so cool…

But anyways… no question this is an ideal travel destination. I hope to go again someday.

Do as the locals do: eat 6 meals a day. Start with breakfast of toast and jam, then break at around 10:30 with a coffee and pastry. Lunch is warm, 3 courses, consider fish, so it’s not too heavy. Then comes a sweet snack with tea in the afternoon, or if you don’t have to work, here’s where a little liquer is not out of place. Tapas start after 6pm, and dinner not until 10pm. If you’re out late, the thing to do is to have ‘churros’ with melted chocolate. Who really cares about cholesterol?

A couple of years ago and I particularly remember how HOT it was! I’ve been to San Sebastian which is gorgeous and Barcelona, which is amazing for shopping and obviously for the sights as well.

Head to the beach. Central and northern Spain are boring and desolate. If you’ve been to Mexico, you aren’t missing anything in central Spain. The coast is gorgeous, though. I highly recommend visiting Gibraltar, as well (although this is technically England).
