Disney Wilderness Preserve

was in July 2005 with a wonderful group of people who had participated or otherwise donated at Karmapalooza 2005—all the proceeds from the event were donated to the site, around $6.1K. We were invited by the Nature Conservancy, who “protects” the area. I really enjoyed this place. We were given a tour in a buggy (which was really cool), and the restoration efforts are really great and visible. The boardwalk, for example, was built out of compacted milk cartons and they expect it to last for over 100 years. The friendly staff treated us to a wonderful vegan lunch on the bank of one of the bright blue lakes in the preserve, sitting next to old gigantic bald cypress trees.
