A tip I have about this place

There is a pillar in the daibutsuden that you can try to fit through. It is supposed to be the same dimension as the hole that is the daibutsu’s nostril. If you can make it through the opening, you are supposed to be able to achieve enlightenment.

My tip for trying to fit through the hole (other than to be skinny): go in arms first, as if you were attempting a dive. This will make your circumfrence smaller.

Can you fit? My older daughter (5’8, 110 lbs) made it through; her younger sister, about the same weight but a couple inches shorter, got stuck, and we had to pull her back out by her feet.
