Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

Oh wow, this place is great! My friend Leah and I stayed there for a night on a trip from L.A. to San Francisco via the 101 highway along the coast. This hostel is definitely a highlight. I naively thought we were going to be sleeping IN the lighthouse itself, but the quarters are actually 3 separate ranch houses perched nearby that Coast Guards and their families lived in and took care of the lighthouse in some years past. We were there during the off-season, and the little house we stayed in was totally empty, we had the run of the place. We played board games and piano, read books, cooked dinner, and there was no T.V., just the sound of crashing waves, which definitely added to the experience. It was very romantic, but alas we’re not that kind of friends! We went to sleep as the sweep of the lighthouse played across the wall every 15 seconds or so. What a memorable hostel this was, and I cannot wait to go back sometime when the hot tub is working!

Worth visiting!

the WOW factor

This place has a big hot-tub situated outdoors, beneath the lighthouse beacon. Go for a soak in the evening – you’ll think you died and went to heaven!!
