Worth visiting!

I’m biassed, because I worked here for a while, but I love this place!

It started as a physics teacher/lecturer’s attempt get kids inspired about science with hands-on interactive exhibits, and was located for a while in the School Without Walls. I remember going there as a kid and loving it.

It grew and grew and moved to a new building, the conical shape with a spiral walkway is a little like the guggenheim, and it’s right on the lake.

I used to love the silly putty (like blue tac/chewing gum that bounces like a rubber ball but snaps apart and stretches out), the moving gyroscope-like platform with a pen attached that draws pictures…

I have been back a few times as an adult (including to work there) – now they have a ride called ‘free fall’ where you drop from a bar onto a slide, ‘curve ball’ where you spin around on a seat throwing balls at someone on the other side, and exhibitions on dinosaurs, music, natural disasters, indigenous culture…all kinds of things.

They also travel across the country to bring the centre to remote areas.

Lots of fun, and you don’t have to be a kid to enjoy it.
