Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

I moved to Wisconsin almost 7 years ago. Dick’s still brings me back.

The fries are greasy, you have to pay for the condiments, and good luck finding a clean seat…yet it’s easily the most authentic Seattle restaurant outside of Ivar’s.

The Original Remodel..  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

I haven’t eaten one of these in years, not that they weren’t good burgers, I just tend to eat slow food as opposed to fast food these days. It appears from the sign that the Original’s remodel is complete.

No special orders.  — 2 years ago

Worth visiting!

Having never seen or heard of the place before, I was intrigued.

1 – Take cash, they don’t accept credit/debit cards.

2 – No special orders.

Aside from those two things, I thought the place was great. I think it all has to do with speed, having people in and out as fast as they can. Fine by me.

And, an off-season farmers' market  — 2 years ago

Worth visiting!

In the church parking lot behind Dick’s, Saturday mornings from 8ish to noonish, when the U-district market is not in session, you’ll find purveyors of farm-fresh eggs and pastured chickens, locally canned and smoked fish, and morels, among other things.

The burgers are nothing special (cheap though!), the fries are a limp, greasy mess (but sometimes that’s exactly what you want), and the chocolate shakes are pretty great.

The very first Dick's...  — 2 years ago

Worth visiting!

...was the one in Wallingford. I haven’t eaten there. (I’m a vegetarian.) But I like walking by this one. It’s at the bottom of two hills. Gravity just wants things to roll into Dick’s.
