Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

‘Cause Jessica is awesome, and helped me figure out my signature drink. Drew is cool, too, and they are both good listeners, like real bartenders should be. I tend to go here in the late afternoon on weekdays, because it is so small . . .

I really like this place. It’ll age well and I can see going there at 21 and 71.

Great bartenders, great drink. Great time. When in Ballard, go. And I saw ben Shephard looming out front.

Not everyone needs to sit all the time  — 2 years ago

Worth visiting!

Cozy. It’s cozy and intimate and that can be too much or too little depending on your state of mind or your date or the drugs you’re on. BUT, Drew and Ben (and I’m sure, in an alternate galaxy) the austere and unapproachable guy from the Rendezvous are lovely hosts who will welcome you effusively and then you will drink good drinks and enjoy not sitting if that is what you are not able to do. It’s tiny, and that’s the way it is. If you want space, go to a Seahawks show. Plus you can get Drew’s face tattooed on you next door if you bring the flash and the cash.

It’d be one thing if this bar was just named after Lee Hazlewood, but the fact that this bar also contains one of his secrets and serves a drink/cigarette combo fashioned in his honor makes this bar aesthetically flawless.

Worth visiting!

So very tiny, this bar. A little upstairs lounge with comfy couches along the wall, perfectly lit, rockstars downstairs, lighted photographic peephole in the wall. A little strange when too crowded and a little strange when too empty, but could be perfect with the right amount of people. You can wash your hands either before or after touching the banister. I think I am still drunk.
