Worth visiting!
i’m year round when not working/traveling. rosoce and the surrounding area is great but has some easily managed challenges.
it slams during fishing season with the usual suspects (from near and far) as well as summer home owners. a few places to eat, a few to drink, a few to stay and a lot of interesting outdoorsy things to do. pretty crowded on weekends but weekdays are manageable. if you’re around for a while knowing where to find the peace and quiet doesn’t take long.
fall brings hunting season and that crowd favors camo and signal orange as a fashion statement. the outdoors is drop dead gourgeous but wear bright colors. dates differ for various game but mid-Nov through mid-Dec is big-game (deer & bear) time. this is the time to take some care. hunters are generally respectful and knowledgeable but there is always a small group of jerks not respectful and that don’t know everthing they should about the sport. less traffic; real nice time of the year early on, hiking and biking rules and the colors can be amazing.
winter can be a challenge (less so with DSL and satelite tv) because it gets cold, dark and real quiet – except for the wind and snow. Some locals make their money in the spring, summer and fall and take month off in warmer climates. I travel for work and also go to NYC every few weeks – 120 miles / 2 hours away. but it is a long grey tunnel to Spring. also… backwoods snowshoeing is great.
what most know as Spring can come late(ish) like late April/early May(ish), snow melts, rivers rise, fishermen/women arrive and the cycle begins again. azeleas and rhododendrums bloom and we’re on the water again.
hope this is useful.
