The first time I went to this place  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to the lake I was little and I always love to see how big, blue and beautiful is. Specially, I loved to see the llamas around the area and eat a traditional meal next to the lake while you can appreciate the beautiful nature of Lake Titicaca.

Why I want to go to this place  — 1 year ago

Lake Titicaca has a haunting and desolate beuaty. The intensity of the rich, dark blue of the water is unoque among freshwater lakes and makes the wide expanses of sky and landscape look even more stark and exceptional.

My favorite place in Bolivia  — 2 years ago

Worth visiting!

There is something magical about Lake Titicaca and Isla del Sol. It is so peaceful and simply absolutely beautiful. Because it does not have much to do its a great place for introspection.

two lakes?  — 2 years ago

Worth visiting!

Lake Titicaca seems to be listed twice on 43 places. Here’s what I wrote for the other listing…

I was amazed when I first saw Lake Titicaca that it was indeed a lake, and not the ocean. It is big enough that you can’t see the other side in places. I stayed at Copacobana in Bolivia, went to Puno in Peru, and saw the Floating Islands (los uros). It’s a lovely part of the world :)

Definitely Stay on Amananti Island  — 2 years ago

Worth visiting!

This picture was taken at sunset at the top of the island.

We spent a few days touring the Lake. After visiting the Uros Islands and Taquile Island, Amananti Island was by far the most wonderful.

We were able to stay with a family. They cooked our food and were the sweetest, kindest people I have ever met. Don’t forget to bring bags full of pasta, cooking oil, fruit and other foods that are hard to find on the island as gifts. And bring some toys for their many children, too!

If you can make it to the top if the island, the views are breathtaking. I spent two weeks in Bolivia and Peru, and the night I spent on Amananti was by far my favorite excursion.

Visit The Uros  — 2 years ago

Worth visiting!

Wonderful indigenous people of Lake Titicaca. Don’t forget to take a ride upon the reed boats. You know, the reeds are edible too. Because of the height of Lake Titicaca, you will need altitude-sickness pills.
