I lived in North Van by the Quay. This was the best individual experience I’ve ever had. I loved it. When I have the money I will live out there again. There is no place like the west coast. It holds my heart.

It was intensely raining when I visited, so my visit was less than desirable. But still an amazing place.

Unfortunately, due to its enormous size and lack of time, I wasn’t able to see most of it.

May of 1994 I was 20years old and hit with wander lust… An opportunity came up to meet a guy (who I had been talking to on the phone with for a couple of months…) So, I was up in Canada, hanging out with this cool guy-Darcy Kuhl…(his last name=Kuhl) and we spent several afternoons and even misty mornings romping around that enormous park!!! Lots of trails and entertainment in one Huge spot… Lots of fun!

The first time I was here was the summer of ‘05. I fell in love again and again. I realized other urban parks are just that whereas Stanley Park is an embracing of nature itself. It’ll pull through the damage from the windstorms, let’s rally on.

ok. i went to canada with the skool from australia. we visited stanley park. it was a wreck. the trees were uprooted and their roots were so huge u could hide a car behind them and still have room left over. it was really depressing, cos of the storms. :( yeah.

Actually the winds were higher than 95 km/h. More like 110km/h I was there! :(

I really love this park.. I feel bad it’s been so windy here and I have a feeling if the wind storms keep up, this park will turn into a golf course :(

On Thurs. Dec. 14, 2006, winds >95km/h from the Strait of Juan de Fuca caused an extra-tropical cyclone to topple many trees in Stanley Park. Many trees have fallen due to a domino wind effect clearing way for previously unhandled wind tunnels.

Stanley park will never be the same. This is part of a cyclical evolution of the ecosystem. Trees grow taller to compete for light, but the taller a tree is, the more unstable it is. Previous logging activity in the 1860’s had left the park with some of the weaker trees.

As a child I remember loving Stanley Park and have fond, although vague, memories of trips there. What I remember most about Stanley Park was watching the Orca. I still remember when Skana died. It was 1980, I was 9 years old and I was in my moms car when the radio announced that Skana died, I was so sad, I actually cried. It felt like a lost a friend, now there is only one place I want to see an Orca.
