When I was little we went to Waterton every summer, and it was a beautiful place full of fun and scenic beauty.

Good place to take your kids!  — 3 years ago

I went here a lot with my family when I was a kid, and boy was it fun. I was a little dissapointed when I found out that there are no high rise hotels (due to the fact it would destroy the scenery) but made do with a humble motel room. There is lots of fun nature stuff to do here like take sticks and huck them into streams. Also you can go across the border and see the American side too. On the American side you can also take sticks and huck them into streams. Great place, and rent bikes!

Amazing sights, but unwelcoming people  — 3 years ago

Amazing park but don’t cross at Chief Mountain!! We crossed the border at Chief Mountain in order to take in the sites of Glacier and Waterton on our trip. The border guards were extremely unfriendly and allowed their huge hairy 90lb dog to jump ans scratch its way up into the back of our car and walk around snagging sweaters and sniffing our underpants. Can’t they get the dog a stepladder so it doesn’t have to tear up people’s paint jobs? They treated us like we were already guilty of something.

After that whole ordeal, the park entrance ranger was rude when we politely asked if our parks pass worked there too. “This is NOT america sir, you have to PAY for the canadian side of the park”. Then we had “high tea” at the Prince of Whales, and both the hotel and tea service were extremely disappointing. Go through a different border, avoid the hotel, watch out for pissed Canadians, and have a great scenic trip, enjoying the extraordinary natural aspects of the park! Hold onto your hat when you get to Waterton Lake, or the wind will take it away! :-) i LOVE canada, btw. this experience has left me saddened at their unwelcoming behaviour. The one exception was the extremely friendly staff at a surrey/bike rental shop who transferred my full camera card to a CD.

This place is almost heaven on earth.
    Quiet, calm and cozy.
    And beautiful too.
