Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

If you love arts and crafts this is the place to be.
Be sure to get ready to bargaian with the stall holders.

Also catch the excellent performance of the Balinese dances – The Barong and Kris dance as well as the Kecak and Fire Dance.

Worth visiting!

I was here back in 1994, so I’m not sure if it’s changed, but I have a feeling that there is a timeless quality to Ubud that will survive any development. The fire and trance dance was very entertaining, but the best part for me was simply wandering around admiring the work of the artisans who live there. The food in Ubud seemed to be a lot better too, for some reason.

Worth visiting!

I’ve been there twice and Ubud is my #1 favorite place in Bali. You see gren fields everywhere, artistic people, good food and weather and of course, peaceful environment. You might find lots of spas and art galeries.

I went to Ubud twice, in 1993 and in 2001, and it seemed to change more than anywhere else I have been. I have spoken to people who went there in the 70s and it seems like another world to them.

It has however, remained a beautiful place for carvings and paintings, and has lovely people there :) Oh and the monkey forest is very cute. I recall in 1993 going to the monkey forest, where we met a guy who took us to his house to meet his family and have sweet tea. We walk home via some convoluted trail that seemed to take all day, the reason we were given was that spirits move in straight lines so that by walking all over the place we would put them off course.

Bali at Sayan ’s, one of the best resort built on a cliff with 6 star service. A place of decadence luxury.
