2/11 cruise and our visit in San Juan  — 4 months ago

Worth visiting!

Erick and I were in San Juan on 2/11/08 and visited Puerto Rico. We went on a night life tour and the only real night life we saw was the bum sleeping on the bench. I would like to go back to puerto rico and see the things that I would like to see – like San Cristobal and the other important landmarks.

much to say about P.R. We stayed there for half a year or more, but never really did much. It’s not one of my fondest memories, living there, what with my mom working all the time and it just being a bore. I’ve actually got some pretty bad memories from that stay, but I liked the street festivities they had while I was there and there was this really beautiful nature park we went to. It was nice, and I wouldn’t say no to visiting just for old time’s sake.

Worth visiting!

I really enjoyed the island. It was beautiful. There were some wonderful historical sites. At night in our hotel, I could hear all the coquis in the trees. I wish I had more time to go to the hot springs and to go on a better trip to one of the bioluminescent bays. On some trips you get to swim, on others you don’t. I would like to visit Puerto Rico’s western coast too. One thing I was expecting that I did not experience, was the calm and more relaxed environment I was used to from Guatemala and Costa Rica. I think the emotional environment in Puerto Rico comes more from the tourists and the mainland mentality. People are in a rush. If traffic slows, everyone in the line of cars lays on their horn. In many of the shops, when you walk in the srote clerks were on their phones and didn’t really say hi. The most annoying thing, was that the souveniers were mostly made in Peru and China. I am certain they could easily get people on the island to make guiros and other little things and sell them there. Unemployment is at 11% there, so the peopel could use the jobs. I would rather buy something made in the place I am buying it from. So, look for masks if you want something locally made. It is a beautiful island. I would gladly go back, but next time I would see different things and avoid some areas.

Worth visiting!

lived there for awhile with my aunt in Bayamón. It’s a very beautiful island, depending on which one you go to. It’s very laid back there, not really too many people in a rush. Just to warn you, people drive pretty crazy there so be careful, things you thought were impossible to do with a car are not impossible for Puerto Ricans. If your not into rain everyday then it might not be the thing for you. In Puerto Rico it can rain anytime of the day and sometimes at the most random times. But other than that the trees and plants are so beautiful and the water is blue and the coquis sing so beautifully at night.

Worth visiting!

i lived in puerto rico for about 6 months. and ive gone every year since i was a baby. its a very nice place for vacations. living there i think is different. it really depends on the kind of person you are. its a party island basically. there are a bunch of jobs, but i didnt find much for myself. its very expensive in tourist areas but if you find the secret local places, youre in for a treat. food is great. el yunque is amazing. the beaches are pretty clean. awesome weather. lots of discos to dance. old san juan is nice. theres great history. if you go into the island you see the campo and farms and the poverty of the island. schools are great….the private ones. however they can be pretty expensive. casinos are fun, the hotels are great. awesome pools lounge areas, restaurants. you dont even need to know spanish if you stay in the tourist areas. whcih is really helpful to people.

its a nice place :)

we stopped in san juan on a recent cruise. we only spent the evening there, but i loved wandering around old san juan, and just hanging out in town. i’d like to go back and have more time to see the forts, and more of the island beyond that small area.
