I remember being awed by seeing the Rosetta Stone up close – suddenly those history textbooks didn’t seem quite so dry any more! Unfortunately I then got quite freaked out by the mummies – I think I had seen one too many cartoons about mummies that came back to life.

The Eygptian exhibition is always crowded but so worth it. I can just see those rich amateur archaeologists from Victorian times visiting and going, “Do you think that statue would look nice in our garden, dear? Abdul, please haul it out and put it on the boat!”

there is nothing British about the British Museum, except for the fact that they stole everyone else’s history and put it there. If you are looking for Brit history, the you’ll have to go to the Tower; or a library. or quite possibly meet up with the BBC.

They had Mummies in cases pulled out from within their sarcophagus years ago, and placed in the British Museum. I was irate! “What if we dug up Churchill and put him in a case?” i said to anyone who would listen to my mutterings.

But this is a good place to catch up on all sorts of different artifacts from around the world. i thoroughly enjoyed it.

You can take pictures! and see the Rosetta stone! and the magna carta! and mummies! Seriously, i’m not usually that into museums, but this was by far one of the coolest places i’ve been!

The whole museum is fantastic, but my favorite part is the Library.

I love museums, and this is one of the best. Could easily spend a few days here (I only had a few hours, and my family, who do not enjoy museums as much as I do, were ready to leave after two hours). Amazing sculpture, tons of history!

Hope to go back someday, by myself!

I actually got chills down my spine when i laid eyes on the Rosetta Stone, i could not believe i was standing in front of an important part of history. I have been the the Museum a coupe of times and i still haven’t seen the whole thing! I could spend days in there and i recommend everyone go when they are in London!

I’ve only been once, and that’s certainly not enough to get a good scope for the whole place. But, I’m in England til May, and the British Musuem is free. I have a feeling I’ll get to go a couple of more times.
