A tip I have about this place  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

I used to love going to see bands play here, but lately the place fills up with hipsters and posers that talk through the entire show. I don’t pay to listen to drunken knuckleheads have conversations, I paid the door to listen to the bands. Don’t go to Doug Fir if you are interested in the music. Apparently Doug Fir has just become another place to be seen.

A review of this place: Doug Fir  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

The food isn’t that great, but I can get a decent martini upon request. The atmosphere makes up for it all though – it was designed by the hip Portland firm Skylab – and the whole place makes me feel good. The concert venue downstairs is great too – nonsmoking and the shows don’t end too late for folks like me who can’t stand waiting until 11pm to watch their favorite act finally stagger onstage.

Really yummy food, but don’t even think about ordering from any part of the menu other than the one you are allowed for the time of your visit. Snobby waitstaff too…

Yeah, if your in PDX… go to the Doug Fir and stay at the Jupiter hotel. You won’t regret it, and you’ll feel like a rockstar.

Great Atmosphere!  — 3 years ago

Worth visiting!

I attended the Flock launch party with a bunch of geeks (and later, some girls). Hungry when I arrived, I first went to the bar and ordered some food, thinking that I’d strike up a conversation with whoever happened to be sitting next to me. Instead, a little confusingly for all involved, I went to a table with my colleagues and watched as the beautiful people of all ages passed by. True to Portland form, most of the servers were fairly ‘alternative’. Kris Krug took some really great photos during the party, which gives you a sense of how great the atmosphere is.

Fantastic food. No smoking! Open 21 hours a day. Awesome place.

And the bread pudding is to die for, I hear.
