It was my 26th birthday and I decided to take a trip out to somewhere affordable so Hong Kong naturally came to mind. It was a 3 hours 45 minutes ride via Jetstar, a budget airline.

Hong Kong is amazing because it is so vibrant. It is like a city that never sleeps. Every nook and corner, you encounter busy ladies making their way to the markets or the dessert stores, old men with their newspapers chattering excitedly. It is heaven clearly for shopaholics. You can haggle with the mobile shop owners for the best prices for street brands and umbrellas or choose to wander into comfortable shopping centres that carry Juicy Couture, H&M and LeSportSac.

I had the best time eating in Hong Kong because Cantonese people are all about food. Roast goose noodles, cart noodles, steamboat (or the so-called hotpots), egg tarts, milk pudding, mango pomelo dessert, curry fishballs by the sticks, you name it, they have it!

Will not hesitate to go back to Hong Kong again. In fact, I will be heading there again in September 2008!

I first came to HK with my boss for work. I never really did any sightseeing during the day, but I walked around a lot at night. I stayed at Tsim Sha Tsui, and there was a park there where I’d use to go and smoke.

I loved going back and forth Central and Tsim Sha Tsui using the ferry instead of the train. It was cheaper and more relaxing. I get to people watch and eat my breakfast while the ferry makes its way across the sea.

The next time I go to HK, I hope that my girlfriend’s with me.

Skyscrapers stabbing the sky, with Victoria Peak rising in the distance. Ferries and traditional junks bobbing in the harbour.

my favorite part of any hong kong trip is the chinglish & the tragic reality of chinese people having to take english names.

the best names i found in our office in hk during my last trip:

baby. (“good morning, baby”-probably the best part of my day)
    cubby chan.
    wing wong.

Very cool city. Walking through the markets was a very neat experience. I loved walking in the city even thought there were very interesting smells (not always pleasant)
