Worth visiting!

I was expecting to really like it, but I ended up LOVING IT. If you like music, doesn’t matter what kind, you’ll be fascinated at the ancient guitars, little tidbits about young Hip Hop artists or the amazing tower of instruments that plays itself. I went to see the Jimi Hendrix exhibit. I don’t much like him or his music, but I enjoyed learning about it because his dad is from where I’m from and it was just cool to see. I also saw the Disney exhibit which is a wonderful blend of older Disney shorts and displays videos from Disney shows in the past until now (including Mickey Mouse Club from a long time ago up until Britney’s days). They also talk about Raven, Hannah Montana and High School Musical for Disney fans of this generation as well.
I learned to play a guitar while I was there! The Jam Room is spectacular. You can play any instrument you want and a screen goes with you step-by-step to teach you to play a song. It’s super fun. There’s also separate rooms with a personal coach. There are: vocals, keyboard, drums, guitar, bass…more! It’s wonderful!! If you’re a fan of music, it will be a TON of fun for you!

GO SEE IT XD

Worth visiting!

For anyone into music of any kind, the EMP is an awesome place to go. Not only can you look at photos and read about musicians, but they have areas where you can play instruments and make real recordings! It is well worth the trip and well worth another visit!

Worth visiting!

EMP has an unbelievable collection of some of rock and roll’s finest memorabilia. I saw both the Art of Modern Rock poster exhibition, and DoubleTake (an unexpected way to see art displayed). The Revolution restaurant is a great way to take a break between exhibits, and their beer samplers are kickass. More than anything, though, pay the extra few bucks for the audio tour that accompanies all the exhibitions. Walking through the Jimi Hendrix exhibit while listening to full-length albums was an amazing experience that I’d love to do again. The whole experience was worth every penny.

It’s really cool with the cyclone of guitars, but you have you SERIOUSLY love music cuz $30 is kinda steep for this if you aren’t die hard about this kind of thing. I enjoyed it, but this was a one time thing for me.

Not worth it!

Maybe it was because I was a little pressed for time, but it wasn’t nearly as exciting as I had expected it to be.

& she signed my copy of her book American Music. What a talent!
The EMP was worth seeing, but once is enough for me.

Worth visiting!

Fitting that Seattle should house such a place. I couldn’t get enough of the huge tower of guitars!!

Worth visiting!

I liked it, but I wouldn’t pay $30 to go. Fortunately it’s free admission on first Thursdays, so you too can go for free. I’m not all that interested in looking at instruments and clothes, but the interactive stuff like the fancy karaoke room was fun.

Worth visiting!

I have been to EMP on a few occasions and keep hoping it will get better the next time, though it seems to do the opposite. It’s worth visiting for its sheer magnitude. A huge Frank Gehry building made to resemble “Jimi Hendrix’ guitar an acid” or some such thing. But, as my Mom used to say, it’s what’s inside that counts. And what’s inside is random and disorganized. I’m a huge pop music/rock/punk fan who is genuinely impressed by things like Jimi Hendrix’ guitars and Bruce Springsteens shirt from The River cover, and I still had a hard time being all that impressed. Needs more organizaion and some more creative exhibits, perhaps spanning some other genres of music as well.

Worth visiting!

I used to come here almost everyday. I had a membership, though. The jam rooms are the best aspect of EMP.
