    Worth visiting!

Stay away (Shots Fired!! lol)from any area around I-110 unless you are going downtown or to Tonys Seafood (The Hollywood St.Exit)for some great crawfish. There is a beach on LSU lakes.Take Acadian Thruway exit on I-10 go towards LSU (East I-10 right West I-10 left at exit).Blue Bayou waterpark is a little overrated if you ask me.I rather go to 1 of many rivers we got and find a nice beach and chill. Its cheaper and no crowds. One last thing there is a place called Gators tubing just outside of McComb Mississippi.Great place to take the kids for tubing and canoeing down hte homochitto river.Google for phone # (ryals tubing or gators tubing homochitto river)

    Worth visiting!

i spent 2 months living in a tent in hammond, LA a few years ago while working at the renaissance fair there. i met a lot of kids from BR and fell in love with the place and the people. some of my closest friends are there. it killed me to have to leave and come back home. i’ve been down numerous times in the past few years to visit. one of my favorite things to do is go to the levee and the pier. the first time i went the the pier we had to climb up and over the huge gate, but the chains have since been cut, which makes access much easier, but a bit less fun. so, the plan is to move there permanently, hopefully this spring. i never really gave much thought about moving anywhere until i visited BR. now, it’s more like home to me than home is.

    Not worth it!

I lived here for four years…it is building up, but it is mostly a horrendous stretch of suburbia. If you are going, just make sure to get atop the Shaw center and have a martini at Tsunami while the sun sets on the Mississippi. If you pass the casino, drive under the Miss. Bridge, then park your car on the right, there is a really creepy old port you can climb out on and it is great. Don’t go there at night.
I love Highland Coffee, Perks, and Brew haha.
There’s nothing like a Sunday morning at mass at the Cathedral downtown, then a stroll through Spanish town to Capitol Grocery for one of their yummy biscuits. Make friends.
For food recommendations, I say Pinetta’s or Chelsea’s, both mid-range, atmospheric, yummy restaurants.
I say it’s not worth visiting, but it’s not so bad if you aren’t far.

    Worth visiting!

I love Baton Rouge and I would totally move back. Those who said LSU is the heart of BRare right; if you don’t like college towns, this is the wrong place for you.

But if you DO like college towns, this is one that will definitely keep you feeling young. I miss BR.

    Worth visiting!

I lived in Baton Rouge for about 6 and half years, I love this city which is on the Mississippi River full of culture and good Cajun food, I gained like 80 LBS here lol, that can give you a hint that cajun food is the best. it is a small quite town, a college city every body loves LSU including me, college football is a big thing here, if you come in college fotball season you should visit the tiger village for tailgate party. mardi gras stay in town to attend the parades or go to New Orleans, San patrick day parade is a good one in the garden district. Good Restaurants. Chimes, Al-Basha, and Pluckers.

So many of us, but with no posts.

So, let’s all reply with something like our favorite restaurant or place in BR or something – anything.

Me, I love them all. Probably Sammy’s on Highland is what I would call me favorite today.

    Your turn!

    Worth visiting!

born and raised here…worth a visit but not a stay (i was HAPPY to move!)

The only two places ive found that i miss are Southern University and A&M College (my college) and the levee. Oi the levee was SO romantic…walking along the Mississippi on one side and through the fountains under the centroplex on the other…so much fun and many memories…

    Worth visiting!

I was actually born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Long story short, it’s a place worth visiting but not a place worth living in. You have wonderful culture, a rich history, and access to all the things that make Louisiana the unique beast that it is. At the same time, however, you have a city that consistently fails those who need it most, significant racial divides, and the ever-famous Louisiana politics, which are fun to watch as long as it’s not you getting the short end of the stick when they screw up (which is often).

I was fortunate enough to have the opportunities I needed to go elsewhere, and I took them gladly. But I still consider it my home, and despite its many, many shortcomings, have a fond place for it in my heart.
