I live in Minneapolis, I go to work and school in St. Paul, and I feel that I’ve been beginning to know and love both of the Twin Cities. I feel they complement each other very well, each offering different things and yet existing as one. As has been said by others before, I also like the old ancedote that Minneapolis is the first city of the “West Coast”, while St Paul is the last city of the “East Coast,” which describes the cities well. St Paul has the more evident history with the St Paul Catherdral and the State Capital Building prominantly visible, as well as the largest stretch of Victorian mansions along Summit avenue. I think it is fitting that James J. Hill, the railroad baron whose railline linked Chicago and Seattle, east and west, via the Twin Cites made his home here.

I grew up here and loved it. I think what they say about “St. Paul is the last East Coast city, and Minneapolis is the first West Coast city” is true. It has an ‘old money’ feel to it, in a good way.

If you like history, “old world” traditional cuisine and neighborhoods, you may enjoy here more than Mpls.
