Worth visiting!

Rufus Court is beautiful. I actually got my navel pierced here in celebration of having survived a year of university.

Took a bus tour which was really interesting (The guy who was leading the tour actually lived in Croydon once like I did – freaky!). It was his first time, but I was really impressed.

I suggest going to Bodz if you want a piercing done.

The architecture looked pretty amazing too

Amazing Cathedral  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

The cathedral in Chester is an amazing place to see. The detailed woodwork, centuries old, is completely stunning.

Worth visiting!

I was in Chester working in a hotel with a friend for 3 or 4 months only, but it was the best experience of our life. We learned to live independently, far from the parents. Also we visited other near places, Wrexham, Liverpool, Manchester… We even traveled until Birmingam, Cambridge and London, of course. It was a trip that I never will forget, and I hope to repeat some day…

A tip I have about this place  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

I live and work in Chester. I would suggest taking a detour from the main high street chain stores and seek out the independant shops, which can be found upon the rows and down side streets.

Worth visiting!

I went to Uni here for 3 years and they were some of the best years of my life. Since then I’ve been back for numerous holidays and I usually stay in Pulford down on the Welsh border.

Chester itself is a lovely city which can easily be explored on foot, in fact driving in Chester (or more to the point, parking) can be a bit of a problem at times. It’s best to avoid Chester during the “Races” if you can as you won’t really see the true nature of the place as it’s far too busy to be able to relax and enjoy ther city at a slower, more natural place.

Worth visiting!

I lived in Chester for 9 months as an international student. It was great; the city is not big and you can know it pretty well after while, i loved the walks around the city walls and next to the meadows. The rows are beautiful and there are good places to go out, eat, drink…It´s also so easty to visit Liverpool and Manchester from here.

Living in there was the best experience i have ever had.

chester isn't so good  — 2 years ago

Having lived here for ten years I can verify that it’s a nice place to visit for a couple of days but the parking is the most expensive in the UK after London so don’t come by car (though there are park and rides). Most of the shops you would expect – antiques, curios etc have been forced out by high rents and taken over by chains. The shopping is crap to be honest but there are some good restaurants. The city, contained as it is is within medieval walls gets very crowded by a 21st century population and every summer an army of professional beggars moves in to tap the tourists. It is quite hairy at night too – the Duke of Westminster who lives nearby famously forbad his daughhters from venturing into town at night because of the dangers. read the local papers to see reports of muggings etc. The city’s commitment to its Roman heritage is best manifested in its decision to let a commercial entreprise build over half of what would have been the most complete Roman amphitheatre in Britain.

Worth visiting!

A very small town, but definitely worthy visiting. I was there for two or three days and had a great time wandering around; walking on the Roman walls that surround the town, and taking a tour of the old fort on the River. There are some really beautiful buildings there as well. Overall, a really charming place, a nice place to go and just hang around, walk about, look at things and relax.

Worth visiting!

I moved to Chester a year ago from Leeds for University. I adore it. I love it at Christmas, I love it in autumn, I love it when it’s overcast (it never rains properly in Cheshire!) and I love it in summer.
The shopping gets a bit intense in Chester but everything about it architecture and scenery is beautiful. It’s very small, a lot of students get quite claustraphobic, but I love it. Chester will always be in my heart and the most special place? At the top of the Eastgate Clock at night of course :)

Worth visiting!

I wandered through the downtown streets. It was terrifying, like some sort of enormous outdoor mall with yummy mummies speeding along behind joggers and sooooo many people buying soooo much crap. It put me off shopping for months.

I’m not sure if Chester is worth visiting or not—I didn’t get to see the walls. Wish I had!
