A tip I have about this place  — 1 year ago

    Not worth it!

If you still happen to be in Malaga – There is a nice fishermans district called Pedregalejo and El Palo with nice beaches in the Eastern part of Malaga where you can enjoy great fish meals at a good price. They have BBQs in former fishingboats. Since mostly locals go there, keep in mind, that there are times for lunch (about 1-4 p.m.) and dinner (about 9-12 p.m). Bars and restaurants are mainly closed inbetween lunch and dinner time. If you go by bus, take Bus no. 11 from Cervantes to Acacias. If you go by car, just drive Eastern Malaga and on your right side you can spot the Mediterranean through small streets and stop whereever you like. Enjoy!

Why I want to go to this place  — 1 year ago

    Not worth it!

Malaga will be the first stop on my roundtrip through andalucia. I don´t know anything about this place, so I am looking forward landing there and discover it by myself without any expectations.

How this place changed my life  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

Ran away to here from Liverpool in 2001, meant to go to Gibralta but fell in love with Malaga and Torremolinos and stayed. Did an intense Spanish course at Malaga University which was useful but also helped me network with people in Torremolinos. Slept on the beach when my money ran out but found work as a PR for a bar. Eventually I was running one. Had a wild time running a karaoke bar and fell in love with a girl from Lithuania. We were together 3 years and we decided to come back to Liverpool. I came back first to set things up but while I was away she met someone else. Now I am back in Liverpool I sometimes think of my time there, I left my heart in the Costa del Sol.

Malaga & Torremolinos are superb. It’s been a few months since I’ve last been, but it’s a lovely place to stay and I can’t wait to return.

The city is beautiful, and its a good place to stay if you are traveling on your own trough the south of Spain. Granada, Sevilla,Ronda, and even Morroco are not so far away, and you always have wonderful sights to the sea

I visited here one time back in the ‘70’s. I was in the Navy at the time so I feel like my time there was tainted because I looked so very obviously “military”... I would love to take my wife here some day!
