Sapporo

The SNOW FESTIVAL was awesome.

Heaviest snowfall in the world and having the most beautiful snowfall I ever seen. Best for snowfight and winter sports such as snowboarding.

I’ve heard a lot about this snow show…in my town there is such show every year as well. So, it would be nice to compare and to see something new…

I can give you all information you need about Sapporo. Why? Because I was born in Sapporo!!! Sapporo is not a major touristic city in Japan like Kyoto or Tokyo, there are several things worth looking at. First of all, Japanese food. If you want to taste real Japanese food like sushi, ramen (Japanese noodle, tempura), you shouldn’t miss this place. And prices are half or one-third of those in Tokyo. Snow festival is also recommended. I encourage you to come a couple days before the festival starts. During festival, there are so many people and statues may melt because of warmth.

I lived here for long time ago, but I love this place :)

Go during the Yuki Matsuri (snow festival) in early February! It’s fantastic – snow and ice sculptures around the streets which light up at night, and you can always warm yourself up with a nice hot bowl of ramen (noodles) in the famous Ramen-jo (Ramen Alley) near Susukino :) I recommend staying at the capsule hotel there, available for men and women, for a unique Japanese experience!

Definitely would love to go back!

My best friend moved there a few months ago and I MUST go see her. Sounds beautiful.

Ski all day, tabehodai crabs and cheese; nomihodai Sapporo beer; and a big bowl of ramen before it’s back to the hot springs. Sapporo is a winter wonderland.
