I, like most people, didn’t stay long in Puno itself because I was advised that the only reason to go there was lake titicaca, that the town didn’t have much to offer. And I must say from my experience I agreed with this.

Years later my parents went to Puno during a folk music festival and it was one of the highlights of their trip.

I guess I shouldn’t have given it more of a chance.

I was there when I was 15. Long time ago. Saw the Uro Indians, they live on islands man made, made with totora grass, on lake Titicaca. They even had a church, school and houses on top of those islands. Interesting! I would like to go back in February to witness the Virgen de la Candelaria party. Amazing from what I hear. People come from all over the dance for the Virgen.

    Not worth it!

Lake Titicaca is the only reason for being here.
