Worth visiting!
I am here for OIF. Very hot and hummid place. People are very humble. The kids brighten my day when they jump up and down waving at us and running beside our trucks.

I’m not saying nobody should ever visit Iraq, but at the time being, it’s not a place you can just go visit unless you’re a civilian contractor or someone related in the military.
I think everyone should experience another culture at one point or another, especially if that means traveling to do so. I didn’t like the place (both times) but that mostly comes from the situation we were in and why were there in the first place.
I think if they ever get it safe for visitors, it will have a lot more history for visitors to experience.

I want to go to Iraq, not to fight or harm anyone, but to go get my brother. I can’t stand the thought of him being over there without any of us, his family. We miss him so very very much and I would like to ask everyone who believes in God to please say a little prayer for his and thousands of other soldiers safe homecoming. We need all the help we can get.

I met a lot of Iraqi civilians and soldiers. They were all very smart, inteligent and and very missunderstood people. Theyr customs are not openly accepted yet they have some of the riches historic culters on earth. As a U.S. Marine I felt greatfull to have met them. But their dry desert air and my hasty atempt of a tent every night made my stay less than comfertable, which made me not recomend you visit unless you have a good acomedations made for sleeping quarters.

I was there for OIF in Haditha and other places in Al Anbar. I wish I’d had the the chance to get further south and see some of the historic places. There’s a lot more history here than I think many people realize, especially if you’re familiar with the bible and other Christian themes. I’m not and I still found it fascinating. The call to prayer, the mosques, the desolation of the desert… I can see how Islam rose from places like this. I’d really like to go back after the war and see what I missed.

I went here while i was in the army. The country is beautiful if flat and dusty (not bad things in my book since I grew up in the midwest) most of the people are nice, if angry. I Highly recommend a trip to Kurdistan, Amazing mountains and a wonderful people.

I was there in 2004-05 with the Marine Corps during the war. My Unit was deployed at Al Asad Air Base. It wasn’t a lot of fun, but it wasn’t that bad.
Once the stupid war is over, I’d like to go back.
