A tip I have about this place  — 1 month ago

    Worth visiting!

its an adventure not a vacation. Was definitely eye opening, a cultural experience, a nature experience, but boy was I glad to get back to the US and not be swating bugs left and right. If you aren’t a strong adventurer I’d recommend watching the discovery channel specials on Tanzania instead.

I went there summer of 2006  — 4 months ago

    Worth visiting!

I volunteered in a primary school for 4 weeks outside of Dar es Salaam. Always dreamed of going to Africa but this was beyond anything I had ever imagined. The scenery, the people..especially the children, the experiences I had which were unlike anything I had ever experienced before. I visited Zanzibar, Lake Manyara, N’gorogoro (spelling?), and climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro. Tanzania stayed with me long after I left and I want/need to go back.

I loved it in Dar the coastal capital of Tanzania. The people are so nice and helpful! And the food…don’t get me started. Fried cassava, mogo(sp?) is what the locals call it. Pic is attached.

One of my dream locations, Tanzania.

All the travel guides and books show such a beautiful image and such an interesting culture to digest. To the future then. :)

    Arusha  — 10 months ago

    Worth visiting!

I spent 3 months volunteering at an orphanage outside of Arusha and it was the most amazing experience I could have ever hoped for. Amazing people. Amazing culture. Amazing place.

So versatile. From a tropical paradise (at least 3 days in Zanzibar is a must, Kwendra Rocks- unbelievable), to cultural safaris, to weekends in the Ngorangora crater and Serengeti. You can’t really go wrong.

If you get a chance to stay an extended period and really get to dive into the culture TAKE IT!

See Forever  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

Tanzania was a wake up call for my eyesight. I am from Tucson Arizona and have lived in Los Angeles, Miami and Dubai. When we got to Tanzania and Kenya, I was amazed at how far the human eye can actually see when it doesn’t have to deal with mountains, smog, pollution or buildings. It felt like I was on a plane, but only standing in the middle of the Serengeti.

How this place changed my life  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

Once I stepped foot on African soil, my heart was forever changed. I have been twice, and am about to go back to finally learn Swahili. The people of Tanzania are extremely friendly. I was blessed to be able to visit, and highly recommend, the Serengeti, Zanzibar, Ngorogoro Crater, and Mt. Kiliminjaro (though I haven’t climbed it… yet:)
