Granada

If you are looking for examples of Spanish Colonial architecture Granada is the one place to go in Nicaragua. There are other cities that have Colonials (Leon for example) but Granada is totally tourist focused and the centre of town is full of restored Colonial houses and building.

We flew in on Nature Air from San Jose, CR and to this day it was the only time I have ever landed on a dirt runway. We had a car waiting at the airport and quickly zipped off towards Granada. On the way into town, our driver explained to us the proper pronunciation of Granada in a joking way that I did not understand at the time, “Gra nada nada”. A amazing visit to a truly amazing city that included some experiences I will never forget.

Granada is close to Laguna de Apoyo, I would like a to see both in a trip. Gorgeous old Colonial buildings in this city! I was born in Nicaragua and would like to explore more of the country as an adult.
