Worth visiting!

I’ve been here several times since I moved to Texas, but my last visit was quite memorable. My mother came out from California to watch my son, and I got to stay in a cottage rental for 4 days of sleeping in, all the reading I could handle, and long walks through the neighborhood. The cottage had a full kitchen, so I could make whatever I wanted, and didn’t have to worry about anyone else’s dietary pickiness. On my last day there, I also managed to visit some of the historic landmarks I’d missed the last time around, and I also scattered several BookCrossing wild releases around town (including a nearby rest home).

Worth visiting!

Very nice, quaint little town with lots of antique and “old world” shops. There’s this bakery there you have to check out – I unfortunately don’t remember the name right now, but they are known for their lemon meringues, among many other deserts. Also check out Becker Vineyards and Lavender Fields at nearby Stonewall – great wines and lavender products!

Worth visiting!

My husband and I went here for our honeymoon in June 2003. We stayed at a little bed and breakfast (http://www.2weecottages.com/), which was actually just a little house, and it was perfect! I think that’s why I have such an attachment to it—sentimental value, you know—but it has a lot going for it in its own right. It’s a cute, quiet little town in a beautiful area of Texas, not too far from larger cities like San Antonio and Austin. I can’t wait to go back someday.

Birthday Fun  — 2 years ago

Worth visiting!

Spent my birthday in Fredericksburg. We rented a little B&B (just one room!) with a private hot tub out back. Soaking in the warm water and looking up at the stars was a delight!

The next day, we hiked around Enchanted Rock. Next time, I would hike first, then soak in the tub. ;-)

It is about a 90 minute drive from Austin. If you have the time, and enjoy seeing pretty countryside, then I would recommend this to visitors to Central Texas.

Worth visiting!

Fredericksburg isn’t the biggest city ever, but it’s nice for a weekend away. I’ve been with my family and discovered things like the winery, the restaurants the Peach Tree Tea Room and Fredericksburg Herb Farm, and the shops. I went back with my boyfriend and stayed in a house on its own lot that is isolated but only a short drive to the city. There’s a nice little park there and they had ice skating around Christmas and a parade for 4th of July. Chocolat makes really good chocolates with many different kinds of alcohol inside. Seriously, they are the best chocolates ever. Get the one with tequila almendrado inside.

for a couple of years in the late 90s during the Y2K thing. It’s a very relaxing, cool place to be! My German relatives live there. Ok so I’m a little biased. Still, it was not that big a deal to take a break from the city for a couple of years. I haven’t been back lately; I kind of miss it.

Worth visiting!

I love this town. The main street is short and sweet but is lined with tons of shops.

Is the home to several very nice bed and breakfasts.

Was built and settled by German immigrants and holds a huge Oktoberfest every year.
