As if no one knows this, but Ballarat can be REALLY cold. So be prepared for it! It can be unpredictable in summer too…. so don’t just assume b/c u know what the weather is like 1hr away that it’ll be the same ok. Because it wont :)

Still it’s worth putting on a coat and gloves, beacuse the old buildings are amazing and the lake and gardens are spectacular.

One of the most interesting places I went to in Victoria. I’d definatelt recommend Sovereign Hill, theres a lot of history and its a great experience.

There is a good reason why 0 people want to go here.

I rocked up @ Sovereign Hill around midday. Checked the price.. it’s AUS$32.50 for entry! Apparently you need at least 4 hours to go through it all and given that I only had an hour it didnt seem reasonable to spend that much.

Ballarat is a great town. Wide, long roads with cobblestone curbs. Lots of history and Chinese influence is evident.

I wish I had more time – will have to go back, for the 3rd time!

Great pure “aussie” nightlife. The botanical gardens are gorgeous in spring and summer and it’s worth the 6km walk around Wendoree Lake. Ballarat is great for anyone who is interested in history. There are heaps of original buildings and of course there’s Soveriegn Hill. If there’s anyone left that doesn’t know :) Soveriegn Hill is a re-creation of Ballarat in the 1880’s gold rush times. A mini town with all the stores from candy to photography as well as complete houses, an original gold mine and gold panning. It’s great and gets even bigger every year.
