This is where all the hype in Bali happens!
Compared to places in Seminyak or Legian…I think the cafe and restaurant here are quite average for our pocket…
The only downside of this place is the traffic and the beach!
The beach is not as clean as it used to be…too bad!
    But still…it offers magic!!!
    hahaha….

    Kuta  — 2 days ago

    Worth visiting!

I’ve been to Bali alot, especially during my childhood. My family used to travel by road, in our car from Jakarta to Bali. My last memorable trip there is with my big family, with my cousins, uncle and aunts. There we spent more than we expected, and spent times with less attire, truly one of the most fun times I’ve ever had.

Kuta is probably the busiest district in Bali. Getting to Kuta can be very annoying because of the narrow roads and one way streets. Regardless, it’s a perfect place to go with friends and family if you’re looking for the busy streets of Bali. Everybody pretty much speaks basic English. However, going into some shops, you HAVE to haggle. Some tourists may think the prices of the items may somehow be equivalent to what it is back home. Keep it mind, rupiah currency is different from dollars, euros, pounds etc. The value is much lower. In Kuta, some vendors would sell for a ridiculous price.

Many bars can be found in Kuta. Most of them offer happy hours! Depending on how localized the bar is, the prices of drinks may vary. Some bars only serve local beers which is way cheaper. However, some bars are also popular for its imported beers which will be more expensive.

On location, live music are also available along with dance clubs. The most popular on the streets are Bounty Ship and Paddys. There are also the “elite” ones such as MBargo (very popular after midnight), Hard Rock, Sky Garden etc.

When you head to Kuta Beach or Pantai Kuta, it is very populated with vendors selling you watches, jewelleries and ladies who will braid your hair with beads and massage services. The vendors may get really annoying. If you’re looking for just a hot, relaxing day in the sun, they will offer you non stop and more vendors would actually come forward to you. That’s the annoying part. BUT don’t be harsh, they’re only trying to make some money to provide for their families. In Kuta, if you want to sit or lay on a pool chair by the beach with a beach umbrella, you will be charged, Rp. 25,000 to Rp. 50,000 – depending how good you haggle with them. I highly recommend Rp. 40,000 to Rp. 50,000 for TWO chairs.

Whether you think you won’t enjoy, you gotta experience it – that’s what travelers are born to do.

well, i actually spent 6nights here. phew!

lots & lots of tourists.. my advice; dont shop here. travel to ubud instead, as long as you’re willing to haggle with the over-friendly hawkers there.

    bum around the beach! :p

do your research and come here when they’re aren’t a lot of tourists, then you’ll have the place all to yourself (not!)

    have fun!

If you love shopping (though I personally prefer Ubud because the things they sell here is almost the same as the tourist traps from all over the world), spas, sun bathing and surfing then this is the place for you.

However if your trip is short and you do not like the beaches as much, go visit the temples and mountain areas.

Lots of people hawking their wares, very busy area. Definately worth a walk thru, but i wouldn’t spend a lot of time here.

    Kuta  — 2 years ago

We arrived in Bali and spent a few nights at Kuta Seaview Cottages on famous Kuta Beach. I wasn’t overly impressed with Kuta, although I liked our accomodations quite a bit. It’s best known for its surfing and night life. I thought it was over-rated as it’s full of tourists and a little over-priced. There’s an impressive range of restaurants, nightclubs and shopping, but there are better places to travel to in Bali.

    Not worth it!

lots of tourists, hot sun without much shade, hoardes of people trying to make money out of the tourists, and tacky shops selling the same crap they sell everywhere else in the world.

if you want to see bali, go up into the mountains to escape the kuta insanity.

if, like me, you are forced to go to kuta as part of a group, then make the most out of it by engaging the sellers in conversation, you will find them much more intersting and less annoying than at first impression.
