Hurricane  — 6 months ago

Worth visiting!

I was in Astoria in December during that hurricane. I’ll come back another time to check all the stuff out. Hope everyone is ok.

It’s a cute little place.

We stopped at the Goonies house and that’s about it, though.

A review of this place: Yearly Trip  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

I go down to Astoria on a yearly basis for the Crab and Seafood Festival. It is one of the best festivals. All of the local winneries are there for tastings and you get to eat some of the best seafood.

was after my father passed away. I grew up in Astoria and visited my father there regularly for most of my life. I kind of miss being able to visit him there, but Astoria will never be the same for me without my father. Our family lived in Astoria since 1842, and actually founded the area called Alderbrook.

Worth visiting!

I just passed thru while on a road trip returning from British Columbia about a week ago. The best damn coffee I’ve ever had: The Rusty Nail Cafe sells Columbia River Coffee Roaster “Oregon Breakfast Blend” We bought a bag ground for a french press pot; had it the next morning. WOW is it good.

It doesn’t actually rain every day in Astoria, but it feels as if it does… and that’s not all bad. It makes for a misty, mellow, low-key sort of place.

Wonderful in the summertime, but dark and unrelenting rain in the fall, winter, and spring. Consider this: many Coast Guard families think of this place as a hardship post due to the isolation, although no one can deny its beauty in the summer.

Excellent weekend trip from Seattle  — 2 years ago

Worth visiting!

I visited Astoria on a long weekend about ten years ago, when I lived in Seattle, and it was one of the best short vacations I’ve ever taken. I loved the kite-flying on the sandy dunes that looked out over the Pacific. It was my first time ever seeing that ocean, and I’ll never forget it. There are a lot of neat little shops and cafes to check out, too. We rented a canoe and also checked out the intercoastal rivers that snake around the area. And the one thing I loved was that place with the go-kart track! Maybe I’m easy to please, but this was an absolutely great and memorable place to visit.

Worth visiting!

I’ve lived here my entire life, except for the year I spent abroad. Beautiful, scenic, laid-back town that’s easy to get to love. I can still attest that Astoria in the summer is one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
