Cozumel

Rent cheapie scooters and drive around the coast of the island. Make sure you are with others so when your scooter breaks down…you have a ride! It’s gorgeous, see some ruins while you are there too.

be careful when renting scooters/jeeps we had a few of us 2 scooter and one jeep to tour around the island. there was road construction and no sign and we all made a left turn. some how this was not allowed (there was absolutly no indication that it was an illegal move) we got pulled over it was saturday and the courthouse was closed they threatened us that they where going to take our passports. bottom line they wanted cash out. we paid them 45 bucks then we where on our way. besides that it’s pretty. the beach was breath taking. i was on a crappy cruise so i only spent 8 hours there.

...because I’ve never been out of the country.

My aunt has arranged for a family reunion cruise to Cozumel. I’ve already put down my deposit so its all set for September 2009.

it was lots of fun … we went snorkeling … well my hubby did i was scared i cant swim … i was in the shallow water … lol… i saw rocks … and a fish or two … and i was behind with one of the cute instructors…

It was beautiful. I wish I could have stayed longer as it was the only landstop on the cruise. I had a blast and would love to go back. When I was snorkeling I found a beautiful shell and now it sits on the top of my girlfriend’s TV.

I will actually be going here in June on my first cruise! I’m really excited about it…i think we’re suppose to rent ATV’s and cruise around the island, and maybe go parasailing!

If you are only planning to go to Cozumel – fly straight there if possible!!!! It is a pain in the booty to get from the mainland to the island and back (especially when trying to catch a flight!) Do some things outside of your resort, bring a TON of bug spray and shoes to wear in the ocean (due to VERY sharp rocks on the shore).

We spend a bulk of our time at Chankanaab Park which was absolutely BEAUTIFUL and every picture was like a postcard. However the ride there revealed what the side of mexico that i expect reveals how mexico really is….poor. While in chankanaab, we participated in the dolphin encounter. We were able to pet them, snorkel with them, swim with them. it was pretty phenominal…we held on to their fins and the pulled us around and we were able to give them kisses. The workers shot video footage of the encounter so we’ll have it to remember for always. Mexico is very beautiful and also offers the chance to see mayan ruins and other historical/cultural activities. Plenty to do!

If you’re going on a cruise to Cozumel then it might be fun for a day. There’s only so much filth I can handle. Like many places in mexico, it’s ultra tourist geared… which means over-crowded beaches, over crowded water sports areas, over crowded everything. The place is a bit dirty. The people are NOT nice unless they work for tips. I went here on a cruise that went to four different places and Cozumel was my least favorite. It wasn’t the tropical paradise I expected… too crowded and dirty.
